WPBN: An officer from the Palm Springs Police Department in California drove a motorcycle into a crowd that was attending a Christmas parade on Saturday night.
As a result of the accident, ten individuals, including the law enforcement officer who was driving the motorbike, sustained injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, as stated by the Palm Springs Police Department.
Medical attention was provided to the victims by transporting them to nearby hospitals.
An accident took place on the parade route at the intersection of Palm Canyon Drive and Amado Road just after six o’clock in the evening.
“We appreciate the communityās support. Our thoughts are with the officer, his family and all of those injured today,” according to the police department’s Facebook statement.
The cop went into the throng after losing control of the motorcycle.
Palm Springs Police Department public relations officer Lt. Gustavo Araiza told the Los Angeles Times, “Officers on scene got different statements from different people, so they’ll be following up to determine what caused him to lose control.”
Around 7:20 p.m., the procession started up again.
“As Mayor, I take this very seriously. I also know that Palm Springs is unique,” Palm Springs mayor Jeffrey Bernstein stated. “We have the community that can and will join in unison to overcome the most difficult of circumstances.”
“Again, please join me in focusing our positive energy and resources on healing for those injured,” the mayor stated.

The California Highway Patrol is looking into what happened.
“I feel terrible about the accident and injuries to the very people we protect. I am deeply concerned and hope for a thorough recovery,” Palm Springs chief of police Andy Mills stated on Facebook.
