WPBN: After receiving hundreds of customer complaints, Stanley has decided to recall 2.6 million mugs that were sold in the United States. Among the complaints received were those from customers who claimed to have been burned and required medical attention following the incident.
According to the notice of recall that was published on Thursday by the Consumer Safety Product Commission, the recall applies to all Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs.
These mugs are double-walled and come in a variety of colors and sizes. Additionally, they come with a polypropylene top. On both the front and the bottom of the cup is the Stanley logo, which depicts a bear with wings and a crown of some kind.
As a result of the lids becoming loose while they were being used, the company has received 91 reports from all around the world, which have resulted in 38 burn injuries.
CSPC stated that 16 of the complaints originated from customers in the United States, including two instances of burn injuries.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled travel mugs and contact Stanley to receive a free replacement lid, including shipping,” according to the CSPC’s statement.
In recent years, Stanley mugs have emerged as a craze in popular culture, particularly the mega-sized Stanley Adventure Quencher, which has the capacity to contain up to 40 ounces of drink. In the current recall, smaller travel mugs are involved. The lid threads on these mugs have the potential to shrink when they come into contact with heat and tension, which might result in the lid becoming detached while the consumers are using the mugs.
As a result of lawsuits filed against Stanley earlier this year, which alleged that the business failed to disclose that their mugs are manufactured using some lead, the company has decided to recall their products.
Stanley stated in a statement that was published on its website that although their production process involves “some lead,” the pieces that are subjected to this procedure are “covered with a durable stainless-steel layer, making them inaccessible to individual consumers.”
Having “addressed the issue and are offering a free replacement lid to work with the existing product,” Stanley stated in a statement that it has “made the necessary adjustments.” Here at Stanley 1913, we are dedicated to the pursuit of continuous development and our primary focus is on the production of high-quality products that are designed to last a lifetime.
