During an animal welfare check, a Tennessee police officer is accused of using a rifle to shoot and kill seven dogs while their guardians were out to supper.

After receiving a call to check on the dogs, Connor Brackin, a former McNairy County Sheriff’s officer, arrived at the Bethel Springs, Tennessee, residence on November 4, according to Atlanta News First.

Authorities claim that Brackin fired on the poor pups without any apparent reason when he arrived. The dogs’ owners, Kevin Dismuke and his spouse, were out to dinner.

Three of the couple’s dogs were found dead inside their house and four more outside after they returned from the supper, according to the article.

Dismuke told the publication, “To step out of your car with a .223 caliber rifle and shoot through my damn house.” Someone had contacted the police to report starved pets at an abandoned house, according to the apoplectic dog dad.

“I don’t know where they come up with the idea that they were malnourished or abandoned,” he stated.

“Why he pulled up and done what he done, that’s something I don’t have an answer for. I’ll never have an answer for it,” Dismuke stated.

The alleged dog killer reportedly brought himself up on Wednesday after a warrant was obtained on Tuesday. He was freed on bond. The sheriff’s office claims that Brackin had just been employed for a month when the murders occurred.

He was accused of eight charges of reckless endangerment and seven counts of severe cruelty to animals, and he was fired from his position.
