On Monday in San Jose, a tragic incident occurred at a day care on Fleetwood Drive. Two children lost their lives, and a third child was taken to the hospital after falling into a pool, as reported by investigators.
Around 9:05 a.m., the San Jose Police Department (SJPD) received a request for a welfare check at the day care.
Upon arrival, both police and fire department officials were informed that “several juveniles had fallen into a pool,” according to the SJPD.
The police stated that three children were promptly transported to hospitals in critical condition. Unfortunately, two of them succumbed to their injuries, while the third child’s condition was upgraded to “non-life threatening,” as per police reports.
Throughout the day, the police maintained a presence at the day care facility.
“Per county protocol for all child deaths, the SJPD Homicide Unit in conjunction with Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office will be conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances of the incident,” the police said in a statement.
As of 2 p.m. local time, the police stated that no arrests had been made.
