A crane accident in Central Florida led to the unfortunate loss of one life and another individual sustaining injuries this week.
On Tuesday afternoon, in Hunters Creek, Florida, the crane collapsed on two construction workers, resulting in their hospitalization.
Tragically, one of them was later pronounced dead at the hospital, as reported by FOX 35, citing the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The second worker suffered minor injuries.
The incident occurred as the crane fell down an embankment near an apartment complex. Thankfully, no residents were harmed, according to FOX 35.
The crane was being utilized by the Hubbard Construction Company for a noise wall installation project.
A local resident expressed their shock, stating on Tuesday evening, “Honestly, just seeing this, itās kinda crazy. One wrong misstep in the wrong direction someone here could have gotten hurt, who knows? All it takes is one bad mishap for something bad to happen.”
Back in March, OSHA had imposed a fine of over $15,000 on the Hubbard Construction Company following the tragic death of a 22-year-old worker at one of its SR-429 sites, where he was struck by a truck.
In July, there was another crane incident, this time in Manhattan, where a crane caught fire and collapsed, resulting in six people sustaining injuries.
The investigation into the cause of this recent collapse is currently underway.
