A tragic event unfolded on Interstate 95 southbound near the SR-112 exit yesterday evening when a tow truck driver lost his life in a hit-and-run incident.

The driver, 42-year-old Michael Turner, was helping a stranded motorist when a Nissan SUV collided with the tow truck, resulting in fatal consequences.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. as Turner responded to a call for assistance. Positioned on the shoulder of I-95 to aid the stranded motorist, Turner’s tow truck was struck from behind by the Nissan SUV, causing severe damage.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported a loud crash followed by the sound of screeching tires. Emergency services were dispatched promptly, but despite their efforts, Turner succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Shockingly, the driver of the Nissan SUV abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

The suspect’s identity is currently unknown, and the Florida Highway Patrol has initiated an investigation to apprehend the person responsible for this tragic act.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. Additionally, they are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby cameras to help identify the suspect.
