A shooting and a police investigation disturbed the sleep of some Hollywood residents on Monday morning.
People in Hollywood’s South Lake community reported hearing gunshots, followed by police instructing them to remain indoors.
“It was definitely loud,” said Tom Durfee, who lives in the area and heard over 40 gunshots fired and saw police cars down Adams Street.
Officer Christian Lata, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Police Department, reported that the residence on Jefferson Street was the focus of an incident, resulting in damage to both a door and a window.
Inside the house, officers discovered multiple firearms, as mentioned by Deanna Bettineschi, another spokesperson for the Hollywood Police Department.
A white car, confirmed as stolen and linked to a Miami Police Department case, was abandoned near the intersection of Jefferson Street and South 11 Avenue, according to Bettineschi.
Detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
