A Florida woman has been arrested and charged with third-degree grand theft and uttering forged bills after allegedly attempting to use counterfeit money at a North Miami Beach Walmart.
The Miami-Dade Police Department reported that Zipporah Abraham, 38, was apprehended after a Walmart loss prevention officer was alerted to her using fake currency.
According to an arrest affidavit, surveillance footage revealed that Abraham had a history with the store on NE 163 St. The affidavit did not provide specific details about her previous incidents but noted that she was a past offender.
During the recent incident, Abraham was observed hiding items in a storage bin and leaving the store without paying.
The unpaid items amounted to $864.77. When confronted by the loss prevention officer, she was taken to the store’s security office for investigation.
While being prepared for custody and asked to remove jewelry, Abraham allegedly placed $200 worth of counterfeit bills in her mouth, attempting to eat them.
She was subsequently taken into custody and transported to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she is held on a $10,000 bond, as per arrest records.
