Authorities were investigating after a man’s body was discovered early Tuesday morning in northwest Miami-Dade. The police set up a crime scene and secured the area near northwest 37th Avenue and 28th Street, where the body was found in a silver SUV around 6:15 a.m.

The victim, described as a Hispanic man in his early 40s, has not been identified yet. Investigators are considering the possibility that the incident may be connected to a home invasion near northwest 64th Street and 102nd Avenue.

The discovery was reported to Miami-Dade police by officers from the Doral Police Department.

“Those officers received a call to assist from Doral police who said they heard from concerned family members who had not heard from a loved one for a few hours,” Miami-Dade police detective Andre Martin stated. “Officers located the vehicle that was abandoned and discovered a dead person in the vehicle.”

The investigators have not yet determined the cause of death. Martin requested assistance from the community.

“As with any case of this nature, we highly encourage the public to have sympathy and look as if this was one of their family members,” he said. “And if they saw anything related to this case of anything suspicious last night we urge them to call police with their tips.”

If you have any information, please contact Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. A reward of up to $5,000 is available for tips regarding the case.
