Unexpectedly, officials have seized a number of unregistered luxury cars outside a disputed tent shelter in Floyd Bennett Field, New York City, that are allegedly owned by migrants. This incident happened on Friday night and left both local officials and citizens stunned and perplexed.
Assemblywoman Jaime Williams (D-Brooklyn) expressed her dismay at the scene after recording the incident on camera and posting it to Facebook. Williams lost it, saying, “This is crazy.” “Where did they obtain the funds to purchase cars? This surpasses all of us.”
Among the cars taken were two Toyota Sequoia SUVs, a white pickup truck without license plates, and a Toyota Sienna with Florida dealership plates that were all unlawfully parked in federal parkland.
At least one migrant protested the removal of these automobiles, pleading to be allowed to return to their vehicle.
It’s interesting that this episode happened at the same time as recent concerns of asylum-seeking families knocking on homes in Marine Park, an area with a large working-class population, begging for spare cash and other help.
Locals’ concerns about their safety are growing as a result of these revelations.
Assemblywoman Williams further fueled the flames by criticizing the Biden Administration’s management of the city’s migrant situation.
The national park Floyd Bennett Field, she said, has become a “dumping ground” ever since it started to accept refugees in November of last year.
With assistance from the 63rd Precinct of the New York officers Department, federal park officers conducted the impounding operation. But in regards to the incident, neither the NYPD nor the Mayor’s Office have released any formal statements.
