Seasoned Florida Restaurateur Bids Farewell After 30 Years, Citing Changing Times

Eating at a Florida restaurant that’s been around for a long time can be comforting. You know what to expect, and you might even be familiar with the owners and staff. You probably have a favorite dish that you always order, making it a nice routine.

Florida has several such restaurants, like Alessi Bakery in Tampa and Kappy’s Subs in Maitland.

Unfortunately, one of these longstanding restaurants in Florida has recently closed down.

About Seineyard Seafood Restaurant: This seafood chain has three locations. The one on Woodville Highway opened its doors in 1994. The menu features various southern seafood dishes, including popular ones like deviled crab, sammie cake, and sticky shrimp.

Customers on Google reviews have given this location a rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars, with many praising the food and service.

Nicole, A reviewer wrote:

“(The) grouper was fantastic! Good-sized pieces and sandwiches. (The) chicken tenders were delicious with perfectly cooked white meat. (The) French fries were hot, salad was fresh. Servers were polite and had great customer service. Tons of seating. Lots of parking.”

In late October 2023, the owners announced on social media that they sold the building but kept the restaurant name. They reassured customers that they still operate in three locations: Medart, Crawfordville, and Panacea. The decision was tough, but the owners believed it was the right move.

Owner Sam Dunlap told the Tallahassee Democrat in mid-November 2023 that there were labor shortages, market changes, and a feeling that the restaurant industry isn’t the same as before.

Dunlap mentioned that in the past, people were content with good conversation and food, but nowadays, they seek entertainment.

On November 16th, in another social media post, the restaurant emphasized that they only sold the property, not the restaurant name. They claimed the restaurant name is being used without permission.

As of now, Google still lists the restaurant as “The Seineyard Seafood Restaurant.”
