Four women lost their lives in a shooting incident in suburban Chicago on Sunday, as confirmed by the police.
The tragic event, described as a “domestic incident,” occurred in Tinley Park, a suburb with a population of 55,000, located approximately 30 miles south of downtown Chicago. Village Manager Pat Carr reported that the incident unfolded around 11:20 a.m. at a residence in the 7400 block of 173rd Street.
Upon their arrival at approximately 11:30 a.m., law enforcement discovered four deceased women inside the home, all having sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
During an update at 3 p.m. local time, the police disclosed that they had a male suspect in custody, and a weapon had been recovered. However, specific details surrounding the incident remained limited. Tinley Park Police Chief Tom Tilton assured the public during a news conference that there was no ongoing threat to public safety.
“This was isolated to the home,” Carr stated. “The scene is secure. There is only one suspect at this time.”
Those who live nearby were alarmed by the incident.
“My daughter knows them,” resident Charlotte Vaitkus stated. “She went to school with the oldest son, and she employed the twin sisters. She always talked about how they were all very intelligent, and they had very high goals in life.”
