According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, a Florida man was arrested last week after it was reported that $102,000 had been stolen from an armored vehicle at a Circle K gas station.
According to deputies, on January 3, Stefon Carew, 37, went to the petrol station in Hudson, which is situated along State Road 52, and parked his van next to an armored vehicle belonging to GardaWorld.
After that, deputies said, Carew opened the driver’s door of the truck and removed two money bags that held, respectively, $54,000 and $48,000.
Detectives added in a complaint that Carew then left in his van, despite the fact that a nearby surveillance camera had already recorded the encounter.
Investigators were able to link the van to Carew by using facial recognition software and an October 2023 receipt from a pawn shop, according to the complaint.
According to court documents, Carew was eventually taken into custody after a warrant for his arrest was issued on January 24. Carew was placed under arrest with a $100,000 bond. He’s accused with grand theft.
