Visitors staying at Walt Disney World Resort or in the nearby Orlando area likely received an Amber Alert on their mobile phones this morning, following the disappearance of an 8-month-old who is believed to be heading towards the Disney World area.
When guests envision their Disney World vacation, their primary concerns typically revolve around the length of queues for attractions like Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom or ensuring they have enough time to reach the front of Cinderella Castle for the Magic Kingdom’s firework show, Happily Ever After.
While Disney World is designed to be the most enchanting place on earth, the occasional dose of reality can penetrate the magical bubble.
“An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday morning for an 8-month-old girl missing out of Davie who may be with a Broward County woman,” Click Orlando said. This information was provided by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
This morning, when the alarm went off and appeared on our phones and the phones of other visitors around, we were on Disney property.
Amelia Martinez is the missing kid; according to the warning, she “was last seen in the 4900 block of SW 148 Avenue in Davie, described as 1 foot in height and 35 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.”

“Amelia may be in the company of Arys Martinez, 34, of Davie, who authorities described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. The FDLE said the woman and child might be traveling to the Orlando area in a white 2021 Toyota Camry with the Florida tag AZ8-9FY. Anyone who sees Amelia or Arys Martinez or knows their whereabouts is urged to contact FDLE or the Davie Police Department at 954-693-8200 or 911.”
UPDATE: The child and Martinez are driving in a white Toyota Camry, FL tag number AZ89FY. They may be traveling to the Orlando Florida area.

Along with a snapshot of Amelia, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department shared the image on X, along with the claim that Arys Martinez took it.
Arys Martinez is a 34-year-old Caucasian woman with brown hair and eyes. She weights 140 pounds and is 5’5″ tall. The reason for the two’s current trip to Orlando was not disclosed.
What Takes Place at Disney World With Lost Children?
Cast members are trained to assist if you ever lose your child at Walt Disney World, whether it’s at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney Springs, or even your resort.
A misplaced child at Disney World usually means that their parents or caregiver have unintentionally parted ways with them rather than that they were taken.
Losing a child is more prevalent than one may expect, given the large crowd levels and a child’s curiosity in exploring theme parks. Cast members make sure the youngster feels safe, knowing that they will obtain aid to find their parents, whether the child approaches them for help or the cast member finds the wandering child first.
Naturally, parents would also locate a cast member to report their missing child, and after both are found, they are reunited.
Disney World is also replete with surveillance cameras that track every step visitors take, allowing them to see what happened to any tourist at any time when they were in the parks or anywhere else on the premises.
