A man from Florida has been arrested for disrupting a wedding, where he allegedly assaulted the bride and caused a commotion.
Rontae Stokes, 45, faces charges including five counts of felony battery and one count of criminal mischief in connection with the incident that occurred at an event hall in Largo on Saturday night, as stated in an arrest affidavit from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Stokes, who was initially a guest at the wedding, reportedly engaged in a verbal altercation with the bride and allegedly pushed her to the ground.
The nature of the relationship between Stokes and the bride was not immediately specified, and the reason for their dispute was also undisclosed. However, the affidavit mentioned that alcohol was a contributing factor in the altercation.
The document further accuses Stokes of taking a ceramic lawn chair and throwing it at a glass door, resulting in a broken chair leg and approximately $800 in property damage. After being escorted out of the venue, Stokes allegedly attacked multiple wedding guests, including his mother, niece, brother-in-law, and another guest on his way out.
Stokes, who has a prior battery conviction from 2014, is currently in custody at the Pinellas County Jail with a $30,000 bond.
