The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles published a statement on Monday stating that a problem was disrupting driver’s license and automobile registration systems across the state. The statement was issued after the department discovered that the problem had been occurring.
“At this time, groups of people working in information technology are tackling the problem. On Twitter, the department made the following statement: “We apologize to those who may have been affected and will provide an update once the problem has been resolved.”
The tax collector for Seminole County, who talked with WESH 2, stated that it is not all that uncommon for the system to have some kind of error or glitch. The fact that this problem has endured over such a long period of time, on the other hand, is rather remarkable.
In the vast majority of instances, a problem will only persist for ten to fifteen minutes before it may be fixed by doing a simple reboot.
On Monday, however, this was not the case, as the issue remained from the morning all the way through the afternoon, and there was no indication that it would be resolved any time soon.
People may have their license tags renewed, but they are unable to register new vehicles in the system at this time. In addition, the systems that are used to issue driver’s licenses and identity cards are affected.
This might be quite annoying for those who have appointments, such as a new resident who came here from another state.
“It’s very frustrating, I’ve actually been trying to do this for almost a month and trying to get everything together and finally getting here and everything’s down,” was how Kathleen Flanders voiced her displeasure with the situation.
The opinion that it was an upsetting event was shared by others.
According to Jon Groves, he took the day off work in order to do all of the procedures that needed to be done, including receiving his registration and driver’s license.
The relevant authorities have indicated that they do not have confidence that the issue will be resolved by the close of business on Monday.
