According to authorities, a gunshot broke out on Saturday night outside a house party in Buffalo, New York, several streets from the store where a mass shooting in 2022 claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl and injured five other teenagers.
“Several hundred” teens were attending a party in Buffalo’s East Side area when the shooting occurred, according to police, shortly after 11 p.m.
“This is a tragic day in the city of Buffalo. Overnight six young people shot between the ages of 14 to 16 years old,” Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown announced on his weekly radio program on Sunday afternoon. “A 14-year-old girl is dead, a 15-year-old boy is in stable but critical condition. Fortunately, the other four children that were wounded will be OK.”

According to Macy, authorities cleared juvenile trespassers from a nearby senior care institution after spending roughly thirty minutes at the incident. However, after the police had left the scene, they got calls about gunfire at 11:10 p.m. and an eight-minute report about a person who had been shot.

At a press conference on Sunday afternoon, Macy stated that the victims had been shot while they were outside a private home party on Alexander Place close to Jefferson Avenue.
The 14-year-old girl was discovered critically injured at the site, and after being transported to Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, authorities said, she was declared deceased. The girl who was killed was not named right away.
According to authorities, an ambulance transported four teenagers to the Erie County Medical Center. According to authorities, three other teens who were injured were in stable condition, while the 15-year-old kid who was one of the victims was listed in critical condition on Sunday.
The gunfire slightly hurt a 16-year-old male, but he refused on-site medical attention, according to the police.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the shooting’s motivation. However, Macy stated that authorities believe arguments that started at the home party early on Saturday night were the reason behind the shooting.
Macy reported that multiple shot casings were discovered near the house party on Alexander Place.
Additionally, Macy stated that everyone who attended the event and might have seen the shootings should get in touch with the detectives. Despite the fact that “we have not heard from them,” Macy stated that investigators believe “several hundred kids” were present when the confrontations started.
Five blocks away from the scene of the shooting was a Tops grocery, the scene of a racially motivated mass shooting on May 14, 2022, which left 10 Black individuals dead and three more injured.
