Road Tragedy Unfolds: Driver Killed, Two Injured in South Carolina Collision

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, an SUV, a pickup truck, and a sedan were involved in a crash on Friday that left one person dead and two others injured.

The multi-vehicle crash occurred in Florence County at approximately 6:55 a.m., according to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler.

On U.S. 301, Butler reported seeing a 2022 Kia Rio compact car and a 2023 GMC Canyon pickup traveling south. A 2006 Lexus SUV traveling south on U.S. 301 collided with both of the northbound automobiles close to the intersection with South Wallace Road, according to Butler.

According to Butler, the Kia driver passed away after the three drivers were injured and sent to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the Kia has not been publicly identified by the Florence County Coroner’s Office. There was no more information provided regarding the state of the pickup driver or the SUV.

The drivers were the only people inside the three cars, according to Butler, and no other injuries were recorded. If any of the drivers were using seat belts, it was not mentioned.

The Highway Patrol is still looking into the mishap even though there was no information available regarding what caused it.
