MIAMI – The murder investigation of Joyce Sapp, who was 66 years old when she was killed in 2017, needs the assistance of the general public. Miami Police
The majority of Sapp’s life was spent in Miami. She attended services at the local church on a consistent basis and had a degree from the University of Miami.
Long walks were a common sight for her, as evidenced by the fact that her neighbors, including her childhood friend Catherine, frequently spotted her.
Catherine said, “If you were from around here, you either knew Ms. Joyce or saw her walking up and down the street,” which is what she meant by “if you were from around here.”
The Miami woman who taught elementary school was gunned down inside her home, which was located off Northwest 64th Street.
She was shot while she was standing outside the house.
Det. Andrew Scull, the main detective on the case with the Miami Police Department, stated that it is unknown if Sapp was the intended target of the attack.
“She was an exemplary member of society; she worked as a teacher. Scull remarked that she did not speak to anyone and that she stayed to herself.
Sapp is one of the many unresolved cold cases currently being investigated by the Miami Police Department.
Scull is one of the four detectives that were recently added to the department’s cold case squad after it underwent recent expansion.
Armando Aguilar, an assistant chief, anticipates that by the end of 2023, a number of open investigations will have been resolved.
“Right now, our cold case detectives are estimating that they have about ten cases that are very likely to be solved by the middle to the end of 2023,” Aguilar added.
The investigation into Sapp’s disappearance has been fruitless, and her lone sibling, Emanuel Sapp, is frantic to find a solution.
“I would be appreciative, and I know that those persons involved can have some peace by doing the right thing,” Sapp added.
According to the Miami Police Department, there have been no new tips received on Sapp’s case recently.
