OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A woman from Osceola County who planned a murder-for-hire scheme in 2018 that was ultimately unsuccessful is going to spend the rest of her life behind bars.
Ishnar Lopez-Ramos was found guilty by a jury on Monday of multiple crimes, including first-degree murder, kidnapping, and more.
Lopez-Ramos contracted Alexis Ramos-Rivera and Glorianmarie Quinones Montes, the latter of whom was Ramos-Rivera’s lover, to assassinate a romantic rival in the year 2018.
Janice Zengotita-Torres, 42, from Kissimmee was slain by the pair as a result of their mistaken identification of the intended victim as being Janice Zengotita-Torres.
The suspects allegedly followed Zengotita-Torres after she left her job at Ross on the evening of January 7, 2018, and attacked her when she arrived at her home, according to the officials of the sheriff’s office. According to the authorities, they coerced her into getting into the trunk of her own vehicle.
They left that location and traveled to an apartment located close to the Mall at Millennia. According to the deputies, Lopez-Ramos and Ramos-Rivera remained in the vehicle with Zengotita-Torres while Montes walked inside the apartment.
According to the authorities, Lopez-Ramos and Ramos-Rivera came to the conclusion that they had kidnapped the wrong person at that point, but they chose to proceed with their plan nevertheless.
According to the reports of the authorities, Ramos-Rivera beat Zengotita-Torres until she was unconscious after first tying her up with zip ties and then covering her head with a waste bag.
Both Ramos-Rivera and Montes are currently doing time in prison for the roles they played in the criminal activity.
