Lightning Incident in Utah Sends 7 Youth Group Members to Hospital

When lightning struck the ground next to where a Utah youth group was hiking on Thursday, seven of them were sent to the hospital, according to news reports.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office said that at around 1:45 p.m., a Salina-based Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints youth group was hiking in the eastern portion of the county when it started to rain.

The children were surrounded by rainwater, and the sheriff’s office reported that fifty of them felt “the shock of the lightning” that struck the earth close by.

According to the sheriff’s office, seven members of the youth group experienced “some medical concerns due to electrocution.” They were transported by ambulance to hospitals in Salina, where they received medical attention for their wounds.

As per the sheriff’s office, two of the youngsters were transported to Primary youngsters’s Hospital in Lehi after exhibiting “some serious symptoms”. Further details on their symptoms were not provided.

According to officials, the remaining five were transferred to two other hospitals.

According to the sheriff’s office, none of the kids who were sent to the hospitals are anticipated to have injuries that might be fatal.

According to the sheriff’s office, the remainder of the group was found and returned to Salina, where they were reunited with their parents. Not one of those kids mentioned having any health problems.

The distance between Sevier County and Salt Lake City is 167 miles.
