A truck driver saw the 1-year-old “miracle baby” crawling along a roadside the day after his 4-year-old brother was found dead and his mother was taken into custody in Mississippi, according to a Louisiana sheriff. The child had survived two days of occasionally inclement weather.
The infant had multiple bug bites, but other than that, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Gary “Stitch” Guillory claimed the infant looked healthy.
Guillory stated on Tuesday at a press conference in Lake Charles, around 200 miles (322 kilometers) west of New Orleans, that autopsy results for the 4-year-old who was discovered on Monday were still pending. Near the Texas state line, in a lake behind an Interstate 10 welcome center, the body had been discovered.
The 4-year-old was last seen on Saturday with his mother, Aaliyah Jack, 25, of Lake Charles, and the 1-year-old, according to information obtained by the authorities looking into his death.
Authorities were ready to check the water where the dead youngster was discovered on Tuesday morning, fearing the 1-year-old was dead. The youngster was then spotted by a truck driver who dialed 911.
A clearly moved Guillory remarked, “We look at this 1-year-old as our miracle baby because he was still alive.”
East Texas was hit by Hurricane Beryl early on Monday, and bands of heavy rain and strong winds were experienced during the child’s search.

“This kid spent two days out in the weather on the side of the highway,” Guillory stated. “Thank God that trucker seen him.”
After her children were discovered, Jack was apprehended on Monday night in Meridian, Mississippi, which is over 350 miles (563 kilometers) away. She was scheduled for extradition to Louisiana, where she will be prosecuted for neglecting to report a kid missing. Guillory added that a court in Louisiana had placed the bond at $300,000.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Kayla Vincent stated that as of Wednesday afternoon, no additional charges were pending and that the investigation was ongoing.
On Wednesday, there were no online booking records accessible. It was unclear whether Jack had a lawyer who could speak for her.
