MIAMI – According to records that were made public by the Miami-Dade County Police Department on Friday, a recent shooting left a man injured after an altercation that began inside a corner store in the county’s northern part spilled out onto the street.
Paul “Crack” According to an arrest report, Oliver disclosed to a detective that he and Corry Jones had previously been friends but that their relationship soured in 2018 following the passing of a third individual who they knew in common.
According to an arrest complaint, Oliver, 33, was carrying a Glock G29 10mm pistol when they encountered each other at a popular Gladeview area corner store. The store is located in the Gladeview community.
According to the police, Oliver informed them that he shot Jones during a fight that took place a month ago at the intersection of Northwest 18 Avenue and 66 Street. Oliver claimed that Jones had a “vendetta” against him and that Jones was the one who shot him.
According to the records, the Real Time Crime Center of the police department, security cameras both inside and outside of the 18 Ave Market, an area ShotSpotter gunshot detection system, and a license plate reader assisted detectives in solving the case before Oliver’s confession.
On the day of the shooting, April 17, the detectives began their investigation by following the Nissan Maxima that Oliver was driving. He was taken into custody on Thursday at about three o’clock in the afternoon in the West Little River neighborhood of Miami-Dade County, where the investigation had been going on for nearly a month, according to the police.
According to the records kept by the county jail, Oliver was taken into custody by corrections officers on Thursday evening just after 9 o’clock at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on two felony charges. Oliver made his initial court appearance before Circuit Judge Mindy S. Glazer of Miami-Dade County after spending the previous night in jail.
According to the court records, Oliver has a history of criminal activity that includes arrests for cocaine possession in 2008 and 2009 in the county of Miami-Dade, as well as a case of marijuana possession in 2014 in the city of Hialeah. All of the cases have been resolved.
According to the documents kept by the county court, on Friday, prosecutors presented a fresh case against Oliver, charging him with attempted murder in the first degree with a dangerous weapon as well as aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Glazer issued an injunction to Oliver that he keep his distance from Jones and set the bond for him at $10,000. Oliver’s case is currently being heard by Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Teresa Mary Pooler, who is presiding over the proceeding.
