At least one gunman opened fire into a nightclub in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday night when a birthday celebration was taking place, killing four people and wounding dozens more, according to police.
At around 11:08 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunshot victims on 27th Street North, according to a video statement released by Birmingham police spokesperson Truman Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald added that two women were discovered dead inside the nightclub, one male was found shot to death on the pavement outside, and one man was brought to the hospital but was later declared dead.
According to authorities, ten more victims of gunshots were receiving care at UAB Hospital. While some people arrived in private vehicles, others were transported there by the Birmingham Fire Department.
“At least one suspect drove by in a vehicle and fired shots from the street into the nightclub,” police stated.
Police stated there was some sort of altercation at the club, but they are still investigating whether or not it is related to the shooting. Police requested any information from the public and there have been no arrests.

The deceased were Lerandus Anderson, 24, Stevie McGhee, 39, Markeisha Gettings, 42, and Angela Weatherspoon, 56, according to Birmingham police on Sunday.
McGhee’s body was discovered outside the company. According to investigators, Anderson was declared dead at the hospital and Gettings and Weatherspoon were killed inside.
According to Birmingham police, federal law enforcement organizations are also supporting the investigation.
