The renowned Mirage resort and casino has closed, with the fences up and the doors shut. At The Mirage property, crews are preparing for demolition. It won’t be long before the volcano is destroyed and a massive guitar is installed.

On Wednesday morning, a closing ceremony was held to say goodbye to everyone. In attendance was Jim Allen, the chairman of Hard Rock International, who inquired about the project’s future.

“What I can tell you is the atrium will not be in the future,” Allen stated.

Since an announcement is anticipated later this year or in early 2025, he refrained from providing specifics. But we are aware that plans exist for an enormous hotel tower shaped like a guitar.

“This building will be approaching 700 feet,” Allen stated. “It will become a true icon and it is something that creates international tourism, not only for Hard Rock, but also Las Vegas.”

The construction is moving quickly, with a three-year timeline anticipated.

“Bulldozers will be here tomorrow,” Allen stated. “We have been slowly mobilizing the last five, six months. But really, this time next week, we will be in major demolition.”

Allen said that even though the building will change, they still want to honor the history.

“The only thing we are strongly considering is there will be a spot where people will be able to come and see the legacy of The Mirage.”

As The Mirage gradually fades, many visitors report having favorable impressions of Hard Rock.
