The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office said that a Villa Park man made an appearance in court on Friday about the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend during a domestic dispute earlier this week.
Twenty-five-year-old Anthony Jimenez was accused of two first-degree murder counts.
According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, Villa Park police officers responded to a domestic disturbance incident at an apartment in the 1600 block of South Michigan Avenue on Wednesday at approximately 10:50 a.m.
Police were informed by the caller—later identified as Jimenez—that he had stabbed his girlfriend. Jimenez approached the arriving officers at the apartment door, blood seemingly on his hands and chest. After that, he was taken into jail and handcuffed.
Officers discovered the 24-year-old victim, Jessica Reyes, bleeding on the floor of a bedroom in the back of the apartment when searching it.
She was assisted by officers until paramedics could come. After being brought to a nearby hospital, she passed away shortly before 11:30 a.m.
According to an inquiry, Jimenez and Reyes got into a fight at the apartment around eight in the morning when they were there together. After a short while, Jimenez would not allow Reyes to leave the apartment and was obstructing the door, so Reyes climbed down the third-floor balcony to the parking lot, according to the office.
Then, in the parking lot, Jimenez met and talked with Reyes. Following the resolution of their disagreement, Jimenez and Reyes returned to the apartment together.

There was another debate during that period. Jimenez drew a knife from his pocket and stabbed Jessica in the side of the head as Reyes started gathering her stuff. Reyes retaliated, but Jimenez persisted in stabbing her twelve times in the hands, arms, chest, neck, and face.
Jimenez only stopped attacking Reyes, according to the office, when his mother entered the room. Reyes was ordered to be detained pending trial by a judge at Jimenez’s initial court appearance on Friday.
Jimenez has to appear in court again for his arraignment on August 12, 2024.
