Prosecutors stated in a report that a gang of girls who fatally beat a 64-year-old man recorded the crime and then took pictures. The Friday hearing did not proceed without incident. Following an alleged punch to a U.S. Marshal deputy, one of the girls—who was recently taken into custody—was taken away on a stretcher.
Authorities are still looking for and have not yet apprehended an adult guy who was captured on camera attacking victim Reggie Brown, 64, fatally.
Authorities stated they were called to the 6200 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest, on October 17, 2023, at around 12:54 p.m. Brown was discovered there with blunt force injuries.
“He died at the scene,” they stated.
Police detained two 13-year-old girls and a 12-year-old for second-degree murder on March 28 and 29. Detective Harry Singleton stated in court back on March 29 that there was no indication that Brown knew the girls, as reported by NBC Washington.
The detective claimed that Brown, who was physically disabled, lost digits on both hands, and suffered from chronic illnesses, was “escorted” across Georgia Avenue by a man wearing a blue coat.
The investigator claimed that when Brown was attacked by the man in the blue coat, he was knocked to the ground and thrown into a wall.

After a while, some girls who were strolling down Georgia Avenue reportedly became involved. According to Singleton’s testimony, one of them asked the man if she could “fight him too.”

According to the evidence, Brown stood up and tried to flee, but the girls punched and trampled on him before leaving in a “celebratory” manner as seen on the cellphone film.
According to Singleton, during the course of the months-long investigation, investigators examined cellphone and camera footage frame by frame in an effort to identify the perpetrators.
Brown’s family released a statement saying, “Reggie was a person who stayed to himself.” ”
Never caused trouble and had a great reputation in the community, having spent 64 years growing up in the Brightwood neighborhood.”
A 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl were taken into custody by police on Thursday, marking their fourth and fifth arrests related to the event. In court on Friday, the 13-year-old is said to have hit the deputy U.S. Marshal.
No adult suspect in the murder has been identified or taken into custody by police yet.
