A few weeks after a woman was discovered dead inside a high-end downtown Phoenix hotel, a guy was taken into custody. According to Phoenix Police, there were gunshot complaints at the Renaissance Hotel, which is located close to Central Avenue and Adams Street, at roughly 3:30 in the morning on July 5.

Inside a hotel room, a security guard discovered a woman who had been shot in the back. Desiree Serpas, a 28-year-old lady, was declared deceased on the spot. Dominique Jackson, 40, was reportedly taken into custody in relation to the incident on July 23, according to the police.

According to records, that evening, while Jackson was strolling around the property in his underwear, authorities apprehended him. According to records, Jackson was the designated visitor in the room and informed the authorities that he thought the victim was a demon.

Jackson’s attorneys contended that there was insufficient justification for the police to detain their client at the first court hearing. Prosecutors claim that Serpas and Jackson are parents to children together, and that Jackson refused to tell Serpas’ family where she was or what had happened to her when he went to pick up their children.

Jackson’s clothing was discovered in the hotel room, according to the prosecution, and it had a considerable amount of gunshot residue on it. A gun that was purportedly registered to Jackson was also present in the room. Jackson was charged with murder after being taken into custody. $50,000 has been set as his bail.

On July 23, Jackson’s lawyer argued in front of the judge that there wasn’t enough evidence to support his client, pointing out that there was another person in the hotel room and that several people had come and gone.

The other person in the room, a woman, allegedly told court documents that she and a companion had met Jackson and Serpas at a pub and that she then returned to their neighboring hotel. The second woman claims that after drinking, they had some memory lapses, but when she woke up, she saw what she believed to be the victim unconscious on the ground.

Jackson’s lawyer added that DNA from another man was discovered.

Despite acknowledging that the evidence wasn’t strong at this point, the judge granted bail nonetheless, pointing up the serious offense.

“The court is going to set bail in your case at $50,000 secured, which is the single lowest bond this court has ever set on a murder charge,” the judge stated.

A team from Copa América is staying at the Renaissance Hotel

An upcoming Copa AmĂ©rica match brought the Panamanian soccer squad members to the hotel. The team’s stay at the hotel does not appear to have had any bearing on the fatality, according to authorities.
