Three persons were taken into custody by New Haven police in relation to the shooting death of a sixteen-year-old boy in December 2022. Joshua Vazquez was shot and killed by an SUV driver when he was riding his bike on Valley Street.
Police have detained Ronald Miller, 59, Latasha Brown, 46, and 17-year-old Angelo Gibson since his death. According to investigators, Gibson killed Vazquez while Brown, Gibson’s mother, was operating the vehicle.
According to authorities, Miller was a suspected conspirator in the shooting.

Following his arrest on July 17, Gibson was charged with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a handgun, unlawful possession of a handgun or revolver, using a weapon inside a moving vehicle, five counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Brown is accused of murder and criminal responsibility for the deeds of another, as well as of impeding prosecution. Miller was accused of altering the evidence.

The community was given an urgent warning to put down their firearms and put an end to the violence during the press conference on Thursday by police and city officials.
New Haven has seen 16 non-fatal shootings in the past 12 days, placing a strain on the department and its resources as they attempt to stem the violence.
