Investigation Underway After Body Found in Studio City Subway Tunnel

Inside a Studio City Metro underground tunnel, a body was discovered dead on Saturday.

Around 3:40 p.m., emergency personnel were called to the Universal City/Studio City Station in order to get access to a location between Universal City and North Hollywood.

Inside the Red Line subway tube, a human was discovered by Los Angeles firemen. At the scene, the subject was declared dead after being deemed “beyond medical help.”

How the person died is unknown. Their identity and the degree of their injuries have not yet been made public.

“This incident is being handed over to law enforcement and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner,” Los Angeles Fire Department officials stated.

At this point, it is unknown how much the Red Line will be disrupted.

Following the event, Metro officials said that Metro offers its condolences for the untimely demise that transpired during a crossing incident on the B Line this afternoon between the North Hollywood and University City stations. The accident is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Metro advises people to always stand behind the yellow line on train station platforms and to never walk on train tracks. Never run to catch a train; instead, please listen and look for trains in both directions.
