The Miami-Dade Police Department said that a lady who attempted suicide by jumping from an Interstate 95 overpass as her 3-year-old fraternal twins were left for dead in her SUV, frothing at the mouth, will be charged with murder after it was determined that their deaths were homicides.
In relation to the incident on February 2, Miami-Dade police detained Shirlene Alcime, 42, of North Miami Beach on February 15.
The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office’s toxicology report, which was verified by police on Friday, stated that the twins’ deaths were caused by homicide. What was discovered in the systems was not disclosed by the authorities.
Due to debt and financial difficulties, Alcime allegedly informed detectives from her bed at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital that she had been “planning, for approximately the last two months,” to “murder” her two children, Milendhet and Milendhere Napoleon-Cadet.
Alcime reportedly acknowledged spending the entire day on February 1st “looking for a bridge to jump from,” before deciding on one in the northbound lanes close to the Florida Turnpike extension early in the morning, according to the article.
Police stated that Alcime “admitted to walking away while both victims were foaming at the mouth, once she heard the police sirens” and “admitted to contemplating jumping off the bridge with both victims or throwing them off one by one and then jumping to end their lives.”

She told a tow truck driver who stopped to give assistance to phone 911 for her children before she made her unsuccessful attempt at suicide by jumping from the bridge, according to authorities. After being brought to Jackson North Medical Center, the boy and girl twins were declared dead.
During the course of the interview, (Alcime) provided detailed accounts as to her whereabouts and events that transpired with the two victims,” a detective stated. “However, when (she) was specifically asked what she gave the victims to ingest causing them to foam at the mouth and become unresponsive, she denied giving the victims anything and stated she does not know what happened.”
According to jail records, Alcime entered a not guilty plea to the child negligence allegations on February 27 and is currently being held without bond.
