Records Reveal: 20-Year-Old Suspect Could Spend Life Behind Bars for Miami-Dade Murder!

Suspect Could Spend Life Behind Bars

MIAMI – Twenty-year-old Anthony Garcia was arrested in connection with the death of a 19-year-old male in northern Miami-Dade County last year. If convicted, Garcia faces the potential of life in prison.

On Thursday afternoon, Garcia (also known as Kado) was being detained without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, detectives have found evidence linking Garcia to the shooting death of John Marcia roughly eight months ago in the Gladeview area.

Detective Danny Morales, who has four years of experience with the police, claimed that “MDPD forensic services bureau personnel tested the casings and found that they were fired by two different firearms,” according to an arrest warrant.

On Friday, September 20, west of the junction of Northwest Seventh Avenue and 73 Street, a 19-year-old witness informed police that Marcia “began clutching his neck” after the first shot and slumped after the following two bullets.

According to the arrest warrant, police were notified by ShotSpotter technology of three rounds fired at around 5:45 p.m., and mobile phone records reveal that Garcia and Marcia were in communication prior to the shooting in the street and Marcia’s death at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Court records reveal that after Garcia’s detention by Miami police on January 5th, prosecutors charged him with possession of a firearm. On Wednesday, he was arrested for second-degree murder in a Florida case that had already been opened. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison, life on probation, and a $10,000 fine.
