Man Accused of Stealing Bike and Robbing Victim in Miami-Dade County

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities arrested a man on Monday following accusations of stealing a victim’s bicycle and taking cash from his wallet while the victim was seated at a bus stop in northwest Miami-Dade.

According to the Miami-Dade police, the incident occurred at the Martin Luther King Jr. Metrorail Station in the Gladeview area. The victim had his bicycle positioned against his leg when Ira Adonnte McKinney, 36 years old, along with three other men, approached him.

One of the suspects commented on the victim’s bike, saying, “Damn, that’s a nice bike,” before grabbing it and making a quick escape.

The victim attempted to chase the suspect but eventually lost sight of him. Upon returning to the bus stop, McKinney grabbed the victim by his hoodie and pressed him against the wall adjacent to the bus bench.

After releasing the victim, McKinney demanded that he remove his shoes and socks. Although the victim complied with removing his shoes, he refused to take off his socks. McKinney forcefully removed the socks from the victim’s feet.

In addition, McKinney took the victim’s cellphone and $40 from his wallet, throwing the wallet and cellphone back at him afterward.

The victim promptly called 911, leading to the arrival of the police who detained McKinney at the scene. A witness confirmed to the authorities that McKinney had indeed robbed the victim of his wallet and cellphone.

McKinney was subsequently transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center for processing. Jail records indicate that he was booked on Monday around 3:15 p.m. At the time of writing, his bond is yet to be determined due to two previous warrants related to a domestic violence incident.
