After someone vandalized several homes and cars in Philadelphia’s Port Richmond neighborhood with red spray paint, locals are cleaning up their properties.

Officers were called to the 2600 block of East Monmouth Street early on Sunday morning, according to the police, because several residences had been spray painted.

According to the authorities, the vandalism on Edgemont, Birch, and East Ann streets affected five residences in total. Police added that spray paint was also used to vandalize three cars.

Around one in the morning, a man was caught on camera spray painting houses in the neighborhood using many Ring doorbells. The home security camera of Angela Wise captures an image of someone outside her door spraying spray paint.

“It’s disgusting. We have kids around here. We have children, toddlers, infants and everything. They don’t want to see that. Parents don’t want their kids to see that,” Wise stated.

Siegel remarked, “It was definitely a shock. I almost started laughing at first because I’m like, what’s going on, this doesn’t happen around here I don’t think.”

There were also tags on Tom Sheridan’s work van.

“I just hope they catch him,” Sheridan stated. “I mean it don’t make any sense. Why would you go and do that …? People are struggling hard enough, and then you gotta deal with something like that.”

The Philadelphia Police Department is asking anyone with information to give them a call.
