Miami Assault Caught on Tape Man Attacked for His Act of Kindness

MIAMI  – A recently released surveillance video captured a violent assault in Miami’s Brickell area, revealing how a man’s act of kindness turned into a dangerous situation.

The security footage recorded every punch, kick, and slap during the incident that occurred on May 17 at Brickell City Centre.

The victim, who chose to remain anonymous, spoke to 7News the day after the attack.

“He kept hitting my face repeatedly,” he recounted. “The punches just kept coming, one after another.”

The victim described the injuries he sustained, pointing to a bruise on his knee, another on his back, and one on his elbow. He also had a swollen eye.

The victim, who worked as an Uber Eats delivery person, explained that he found an unattended phone while waiting in a common area of the shopping complex.

“I turned it in to security, to the lost and found,” the victim stated.

The following day, while waiting for a delivery call in the same location, surveillance footage showed the phone’s owner approaching him.

“He grabbed my hand and started questioning me repeatedly, accusing me of stealing his phone,” the victim said. “He wouldn’t let me explain anything.”

After the suspect relentlessly assaulted the victim, hitting and kicking him, they both went to the lost and found area where the suspect retrieved his phone and left.

The victim subsequently filed a report with the City of Miami Police.

The next day, security personnel spotted the suspect at the shopping center and immediately contacted the police.

“The victim found the phone the day before and tried to inform the suspect that the phone was upstairs,” a shopping center employee explained.

Law enforcement arrested a 27-year-old named Amed Bamba, who had some questions for the arresting officer.

“They didn’t talk to you about what happened,” an officer responded. “They have you on video? Okay, if it’s on video, they have evidence.”

Bamba appeared before Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Betty Capote-Erben the following day.

“I see you were arrested for one count of misdemeanor battery,” Capote-Erben stated.

“I have never been arrested, and I have traveled to many states,” Bamba informed the judge.

He further explained that he is originally from France, has been in the United States for approximately three years, and has never been involved in any legal troubles.

Now, Bamba faces accusations of assaulting someone who was simply being honest.

“He attacked me for no apparent reason,” the victim expressed. “Why? Why would anyone do that? Did I deserve it?”

Bamba remains incarcerated with a bail set at $1,500. He is scheduled to appear in court sometime in June.
