After their father disappeared in April, a Virginia man’s two kids are in a desperate search for answers and suspect that their father’s sudden departure was the result of some sinister activities.
On April 12, 79-year-old Kenneth “Kenny” Turner vanished from Fieldale, Virginia, where he owned an antique store and led a peaceful life.
“I think somebody picked him up and took him somewhere, but where, I don’t know,” Turner’s son, Michael Turner stated. “For both of his vehicles to still be at home and his wallet, it was like he was riding out and coming back home. Because he left the porch light on.”
Michael went on to say that his father’s front door was closed the morning he noticed his father was gone and that it only fully closes when he pulls it very hard.
“[H]e actually had to close the door,” Michael stated. “So my thing is, somebody picked him up and [did] something with him, but I don’t know what and who.”
Since Kenny had just been admitted to the hospital for high blood pressure the week before he vanished, Michael and his brother Bryant had been checking in on their father quite a bit to make sure he was taking his medication and getting better.
Bryant had seen his father the Friday before, and Michael had gone to his house the Wednesday before his disappearance on Saturday.
He mentioned that the night before Kenny vanished, his foot was inflamed, which made him doubt that he would simply leave his house. Bryant advised his father to sit down, unwind, and watch TV the night before he vanished.
On Saturday morning, Kenny planned to hold a sidewalk sale at his antique shop, and he would return to assist with it. Rather, for a few hours, the brothers drove separately from the antique store to Kenny’s house in an attempt to get in touch with him, assuming he was with the other brother or had gone out to breakfast, until they both noticed something was amiss.
According to Michael, their father’s lack of communication with them, particularly with his sister, was uncharacteristic.
Around 3 or 4 p.m. on Saturday, they reported a missing individual to the police, according to Michael. That day, police conducted a helicopter search and a grid search within a 25-mile radius.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office stated that although it is currently looking into Kenny’s disappearance, they have not identified any suspects or discovered any evidence of the father who vanished.
Michael Turner stated that, “I’ve got a feeling he’s dead somewhere.”Â

Michael said that he thinks his father may have been murdered. “For him to be gone this long and not to get in contact with me or my brother, I’ve got a feeling he’s dead somewhere,” Michael said.
Michael is urging anyone who knows anything about the disappearance of his father to come forward. Michael stated that his family’s top priority at this point, over six months after Kenneth’s disappearance, is “closure.”
It is requested that anyone with knowledge regarding Turner’s disappearance get in touch with HCSO at 276-638-8751.
