Following the discovery of their 7-year-old son hanging on the bathroom door at an elementary school, a Maryland couple is seeking answers. The mother’s now-viral social media post on Saturday (Nov. 16) included the horrific story of what transpired at C. Paul Barnhart Elementary in Waldorf, along with a cropped picture of the youngster in a hospital bed.

Her son “experienced something no child should have never in life experience,” the mother claimed, on Friday, November 15. In the boys’ restroom, a fourth-grader hung my second-grader child.

The most upsetting phone call I had received was from the school informing me that my child was being sent to [a] children’s hospital.

According to reports, the student was unconscious and foaming at the mouth when the principal found him.

“This is the most heartbreaking [and] traumatizing situation my family has ever been in. … Everything about this is unacceptable. Nothing about this is ok BULLYING is never ok. I’m feeling anger [and] seeing red.”

“Horseplaying in a school bathroom when one student’s jacket got caught on a stall door hook,” Charles County Public Schools district officials wrote in a letter to parents. They claim that an involved peer turned to administrators for assistance after failing to aid the boy.

The boy’s parents, though, think there’s more to the tale. Both declined to be named when discussing the experience with WUSA 9. According to them, their young son has markings under his eyes and bruises around his neck from being choked.

According to hospital records, he had a blunt force trauma-related neck contusion.

“He’s traumatized. It’s gonna take time. This is not something he’s going to just get over overnight,” his mother stated. “My son did tell me that when they were in the bathroom, he said the little boy told him ‘I’m going to show you how I did people back in the day,’ that’s why I feel like it’s bullying. It’s [no] telling how many other kids this has happened to.”

The mother is hoping that the incident would force school administrators to make policy changes that would stop a similar occurrence from occurring in the future. The boy’s father remarked, “[We’re] sending our kids to school every day thinking that they are safe.” They don’t currently have any intentions to return their youngster to school.
