Thanksgiving is quickly approaching on Thursday, November 28, so it’s time to start monitoring the weather for the occasion. This is particularly true given that a record number of Texans are anticipated to travel by air, sea, and land.

The good news for Texas is that the Climate Prediction Center predicts that the state will have precipitation that is either near or below normal between November 24 and November 28.

The six- to 10-day temperature prognosis predicts above-average temperatures over the entire state of Texas, despite the fact that the state is expected to experience a cold snap this week.

Nationwide wet pattern

According to the Climate Prediction Center’s prognostic projections, a typically wet trend is expected for much of the continental U.S. from Nov. 24 to Nov. 28, even if Texas may have dry conditions before and during Thanksgiving.

According to experts, areas of California east into the Central Rockies will have the best possibilities of experiencing above-normal precipitation.

Precipitation is expected to be above normal in a second area throughout parts of the Midwest, including Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.

Forecasters stated parts of Florida and the Southern Plains are favored for below-normal precipitation.

Below-normal precipitation is preferred for the southern mainland and southeast region of Alaska for visitors who are going from a great distance. Nearly below-normal precipitation is preferred in Hawaii.

Forecast for national temperatures

According to the Climate Prediction Center, Texas won’t be the only region in the nation to see above-normal temperatures. Much of the southern and eastern continental United States is expected to see above-normal temperatures, according to the Climate Prediction Center.

Below-normal temperatures are likely in the Northwest, Northern Rockies, and Northern Plains due to the mid-level trough that will increase the likelihood of precipitation in those regions.

Alaska has a strong preference for below-normal temperatures over southeast Alaska. According to forecasters, instruments in Hawaii are in very good agreement predicting temperatures above average.
