The first snowfall in Cincinnati could arrive soon. The weather in Ohio is often erratic. Not surprisingly, snowfall has been intermittent throughout the years throughout the state. The first snowfall occurred in Cincinnati as early as mid-October, when last year it occurred around mid-November.

This winter, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, will be wet and colder than usual, with “rapid-fire storms that will bring both rain and snow, with little downtime in between.”

With the coldest spells occurring in late November, late January into early February, and late February, temperatures are predicted to drop significantly.

How will things work out in Cincinnati?

Cincinnati could have its first snowfall as early as Nov. 19, according to the Farmers’ Almanac forecast for the Ohio Valley. However, the National Weather Service predicts that the area will experience its first snowfall later this week.

Although snow showers are possible Thursday morning at 4 a.m., NWS states that “little or no snow accumulation is expected.”

With a high of about 38 degrees and an 80% chance of precipitation, there is a chance of snow showers before 1 p.m. on Thursday, followed by rain and snow showers. According to the NWS, new snow accumulation of less than 0.5 inches is possible.

Before Thanksgiving, the area is expected to have its first snowfall, but according to The Old Farmers’ Almanac, snowfall will be “below normal” in the far eastern U.S. and “above normal elsewhere.”

According to The Old Farmers’ Almanac, “the snowiest periods will be in late December, from late January into early February, in late February, and in mid-March.”
