Law Enforcement Nabs Suspect in Centre County After Multi-State Crime Wave

After allegedly stealing a Dollar General in Centre County, a man from New York was apprehended in Pennsylvania.

According to court documents, Brian Baritot, 40, of Orchard Park, NY, west of Buffalo, was arrested on Friday, Nov. 22, with bail denied on counts of robbery, flight, and terroristic threats.

Employees reported that Baritot robbed a Dollar General store in Pleasant Gap at approximately 7:15 p.m. with a knife, according to Spring Township Police.

Officers were able to provide local police with a description of Baritot and his car.

Within 15 minutes, Baritot was discovered by state police in the Center Hall parking lot of a church. Police reported that after a chase, Baritot crashed. When Baritot refused to comply after the crash, he was tased and placed under arrest.

According to police, a knife was discovered in the center console of the car along with cash.

It was reported that Baritot had warrants in several counties for robberies, including one at a bank, in Pennsylvania and New York.

According to court dockets, Baritot was locked up in Centre County Prison and his bail was refused on the grounds that he posed a risk to himself and others.
