Former CIA Officer Discusses Possible Explanations for NJ Drone Sightings

WPBN: The mystery drone sightings, according to Laura Ballman, a former CIA Operations officer, are “extremely unsettling.”

For weeks, people of New Jersey have been experiencing unease due to the sighting of drones across the state, but no official explanations have been provided. Ballman suggested that the circumstances surrounding the drone sightings suggest that it may be an operation carried out by the United States.

“Deducing the statements from [National Security spokesman] John Kirby that these drones are not operating illegally, coupled with several op-eds that have been out there in the last 24 hours about the need to look at our detection systems, makes me think perhaps this is actually a classified exercise to test either evasion technology or detection technology in urban areas,” Ballman stated.

As she continued, Ballman stated that she would be “shocked” if the drones were associated with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), stating that it is “not their mandate to operate in the United States.” In addition, she stated that she is “troubled” by the fact that the United States government has not been forthright with information regarding the drones to her.

During a recent call with reporters, officials from the United States Department of National Security attempted to allay the fears that have been raised about the strange drones that have been flying over the Northeast. One of the officials even went so far as to term the widespread unease “a slight overreaction.”

In addition to members from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the National Security Council (NSC), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Department of Defense (DOD), senior officials from the Biden administration convened the call, which was attended by Fox News Digital Saturday.

Regarding the origins of the drones, which are still being probed, the senior officials have maintained their silence without providing any information. In the middle of November, the mystery aircraft was observed flying above the northern region of New Jersey for the first time.

Over the course of the past several weeks, thousands of residents have reported seeing the aircraft on multiple occasions.

During the discussion with reporters, an official from the Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that his organization has received 5,000 tips since the first appearance of the strange drone hovering above the state of New Jersey in November.

Fewer than one hundred of those 5,000 tips were sufficient to merit additional examination, according to the official.

New Law Allows Drones Over Private Property, Shooting Them Down Is Now a Felony

Despite the recent increase in drone activity over the past several weeks, the official from the FBI stated that investigators have not discovered any indication of large-scale unmanned drone activity.

“We’re doing our best to find the origin of that specific ā€¦ those drone activities,” according to the officials. “But I think there has been a slight overreaction.”

While his department is not rejecting all drone-related tips as untrustworthy, a DHS official echoed the FBI representative’s remarks by stating that “the amount of actual drone activity is likely less than what’s being reported.”
