Ex-Tampa Man Receives 20-Year Sentence for Transporting Child from Pennsylvania to West Virginia

WPBN: Thomas Edward Grossman III, a former resident of Tampa who is now 49 years old, was found guilty of committing sexual offenses against children and was sentenced to twenty years in federal prison under the Pennsylvania statute of limitations.

As part of his sentencing, Grossman will be required to serve a period of supervised release for a period of ten years after the end of his initial jail sentence. Both the transportation of a minor with the purpose to engage in illicit sexual behavior and the sexual exploitation of a minor are included in the allegations that have been brought against him.

Grossman was found guilty of transferring a kid across state lines from Pennsylvania to West Virginia for the intention of engaging in sexual abuse, as stated in the full court documents that were presented in the case. In addition to this, he was found guilty of coercing and convincing the juvenile subject to engage in sexually explicit behavior.

As a result of Grossman’s continued efforts to encourage the juvenile to engage in additional sexual actions that were illegal, the gravity of his crimes was increased.

Susan Paradise Baxter, a United States District Judge, was the one who handed down the punishment. In her judgment, she underlined how serious Grossman’s offenses were. In addition to the sentence of twenty years in prison and subsequent supervision post-release, Judge Baxter ordered Grossman to make compensation to the victim in the amount of three thousand dollars.

For the purpose of providing some amount of support and reparation for the injury that was done upon the minor, this restitution is intended to be provided. Additionally, in accordance with the provisions of federal law, Grossman was obligated to pay a special assessment of $5,200.

The successful prosecution of this case was the result of an investigation that was carried out by numerous law enforcement agencies that worked together to undertake a comprehensive and collaborative investigation. Olshan, the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, expressed his gratitude to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Pennsylvania State Police, the West Virginia State Police, and the Summersville Police Department in West Virginia for their hard work.

These agencies were instrumental in finding the crimes, collecting evidence, and ensuring that Grossman was brought to justice for his actions.

The severity of the punishment that Grossman received is a clear indication of the severity with which the legal system deals with offenses that include the exploitation and abuse of children and adolescents.

The dedication to protecting vulnerable people of society and holding abusers accountable is highlighted by the coordination between law enforcement agencies at the federal, state, and municipal levels.
