A new program called REAL ID Days has been announced by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to assist locals in obtaining the required identification before to the deadline of May 7.
In order to help drivers obtain the federally-approved REAL ID, which will soon be necessary for a number of important functions, such as entering government buildings and boarding domestic flights, REAL ID Days will be hosted around Pennsylvania.
PennDOT’s Deputy Secretary for Driver and Vehicle Services, Kara Templeton, underlined the agency’s dedication to making the procedure as easy as possible for locals.
Templeton acknowledged the strong demand for the new identification and said, “PennDOT is committed to making it as convenient as possible for Pennsylvanians to obtain a REAL ID if they want one.”
In order to board domestic flights, enter federal buildings, or enter military facilities that need identification verification, Pennsylvanians will need a REAL ID or another federally recognized form of identification as of May 7.
In order to facilitate the process, PennDOT has planned REAL ID Days for Mondays starting at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., when the service will be provided by several Driver License Centers in Pennsylvania.
The Bensalem, Butler, Lehighton, Lebanon, Easton, and Washington Driver License Centers are among the venues for the first event, which is scheduled on February 24. Those who might not be able to attend the centers during regular business hours will be accommodated by these additional hours.
Templeton added that the growing demand for the new form of identification prompted the introduction of these REAL ID Days. “Because we’re seeing an increase in demand, we decided to offer our REAL ID Days as a way to ensure we are meeting the needs of the public and providing them with the best possible customer service.”
The department hopes that through holding these events, people will find it easier to get their REAL ID, which is an important step in getting ready for the deadline.

Residents can still apply for a REAL ID at any of the participating Driver License Centers during regular business hours, even if the REAL ID Days are conducted on Mondays when the centers are typically closed.
In order to guarantee that everyone has access to the documentation they require, PennDOT has underlined that it will keep providing the REAL ID service during regular business hours.
Residents can visit the official Commonwealth of Pennsylvania website to learn more about REAL ID Days and the REAL ID application process.
