A high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle concluded in a foot chase, resulting in the arrest of a wanted man and a passenger.
On August 1st, the Margate Police Department alerted all patrolling units about a recently reported stolen vehicle from Collier County, providing its license plate and description.
According to the arrest report, an officer spotted the stolen F-150 truck and began tailing it through Margate.
The report details that the driver, later identified as Ronnie Baker, 38, from North Lauderdale, was already wanted on active warrants in Broward County.
Baker was pursued by police as he drove along Rock Island Road, eventually turning west onto Southgate Boulevard.
Chase records reveal Baker’s attempts to shake off pursuit, leading the chase through Margate and into North Lauderdale.
After a brief chase, Baker steered onto a dead-end street on Southwest 7th Place. There, both he and a passenger, later identified as Jahrod Walker, 26, from Lauderhill, abandoned the truck and fled on foot. They leaped over a fence and navigated through several backyards.
Assisted by K-9 units, law enforcement successfully apprehended Baker and Walker within a resident’s property.
Subsequently, Baker and Walker were taken to Broward County Main Jail, where they are presently held without bail.
Baker is facing charges of grand theft auto, evading arrest, and misdemeanor criminal mischief based on a prior warrant.
Walker, on the other hand, is charged with trespassing and evading arrest.
