WPBN: In California’s 13th Congressional District, Democrat Adam Gray defeated incumbent Republican Representative John Duarte.
The final seat to be called was California’s 13th Congressional District, which is among the most difficult contests in the Golden State. Democrats trailed at 216, while Republicans held the majority at 220.
Considered a centrist Democrat, Gray served as the 21st Assembly District representative for California from 2012 to 2022 and addressed issues that were important to Central Valley farmers, such as water scarcity.
He ran on a platform of renewable energy alternatives as well.
The long-awaited results, according to Gray’s statement on X, were proof that the people were prepared for “independent and accountable leadership.”

“I’m honored to become the Congressman-elect for California’s 13th Congressional District. The final results confirm this district is ready for independent and accountable leadership that always puts the Valley’s people ahead of partisan politics,” he stated on X. “But the work has just begun.”
It has been said that the race is among the most competitive in the nation. Gray lost to Duarte by a mere 564 votes in 2022. During his campaign, Duarte, a farmer and businessman, concentrated on topics like crime, inflation, and agricultural concerns.
