Federal prosecutors claimed that an Alabama plumbing company owner is suspected of trying to arrange for the death of his divorced wife and six adult children during a difficult divorce.
Court filings charge Mohammad A.H. Mohammad, 63, owner of American Plumbing Service LLC in the Homewood, Birmingham, with using interstate commerce facilities to commit murder-for-hire.
According to the Justice Department, Mohammad offered $5,000 for each of his six children and $20,000 to kill his wife to an undercover FBI agent who was posing as a hitman.
“Six kids, and the mom. You pick and choose who you gunna take out, and get paid,” According to court filings, he allegedly instructed the FBI employee.
In an alleged chat, Mohammad expressed his willingness to “die for pride” and “die for self-dignity” to a witness who was requested to find someone to “take care” of his family. Prosecutors claimed the testimony established a link between Mohammad and the undercover FBI agent.
Despite being married in March 2021, Mohammad and his spouse experienced frequent violent attacks, according per the criminal complaint. In a meeting with the alleged hitman on September 20, Mohammad claimed that his family was no longer supporting him.
After that, he is said to have given directions on how to carry out the killings.
“Start with one,” Mohammad stated. “Take your time.”
The local law enforcement was not surprised by the marital conflict. Muhammad was taken into custody in 2021 on charges of molesting one of his daughters. In the end, the accusations were dropped.
His wife applied for three protection orders against violence from him in the same year, claiming to be afraid for her life.
“Mohammad has hurt me and my kids and used weapons against us,” she stated. “Mohammad said he wanted to shoot my daughter between the eyes.”
According to court records, she also claimed that her husband had threatened to kill them by locking his family in a cellar.
“He always threatens me and my children with violence,” she said. “He has put his hands on my kids and sent them to the emergency room. He has put a gun and knife against my kids heads and throats. He has shot guns at us.”
Mohammad was accused with first-degree felony stalking in April 2022. The prosecution claimed that he had broken their protection orders against him by installing GPS tracking devices on his wife’s and other family members’ vehicles.
Authorities were called to the wife’s close friend’s residence on January 3, 2023, in response to reports of vehicle arson. The suspect’s car, which was registered in Mohammad’s name, was seen on surveillance footage. In his wife’s driveway, his son’s Ram pickup truck caught fire the following day.

In the months that followed, Mohammad’s wife and kids’ cars were found to have GPS monitoring devices, and numerous other family members’ cars were found to have been destroyed in an odd fire.
A man phoning on behalf of Mohammad’s wife in December 2023 attempted to persuade her to patch things up in the marriage. Prosecutors alleged that since she refused, their daughter’s Toyota Avalon caught fire in an odd fire 12 hours later.
Three days later, Mohammad was taken into custody on a stalking charge. An audio recording of a witness saying, “No, God will reward me” if he hurt his family was presented in court during a hearing.
In February, he was released on bond.
