Amazon Driver Leaves 80 Packages Behind in Massachusetts Woods Amid Shipping Frenzy

WPBN: When dozens of Amazon packages were discovered abandoned in the woods of a town in Massachusetts only a few days before Christmas, it was a significant discovery that took everyone by surprise.

Nevertheless, the person responsible for the dumped goods was not a naughty Grinch who was attempting to destroy the holiday mood; rather, it was a stressed-out delivery driver who admitted to discarding the packages owing to the extensive amount of strain that they were under.

A Lakeville police sergeant who was on a routine patrol made the discovery of the abandoned packages early on Sunday morning. The goods had been left behind by the previous owner. The sergeant observed what seemed to be objects that had been left unattended in a forested area close to 63 Bedford Street at approximately two in the morning.

After doing additional inspections, the sergeant discovered three huge totes that were stuffed with Amazon packages. These totes were dispersed across a distance of several feet toward the woods. The Lakeville Police Department was quick to respond to this unexpected scene, which spurred them to take swift action.

Following the meticulous collection of the totes and their transportation to the police station, an inventory was performed, which revealed that there were a total of eighty packages. The discovery left the authorities perplexed because there had been no reports of goods being stolen or missing from the community prior to the discovery.

It was with the intention of finding a solution to the problem that the police made contact with a local Amazon distribution center that was situated in Middleborough. Following that, the packages were sent back to Amazon so that they could be handled appropriately.

The story took a fresh turn on Monday when a delivery driver for Amazon paid a visit to the Lakeville Police Department in order to provide an explanation for the products that were left there.

It was around seven o’clock on Saturday evening when the driver made the choice to abandon the packages on the forest floor, as stated by the driver.

Despite the fact that the driver admitted to being overwhelmed by stress, he maintained that the odd choice to throw away the deliveries was caused by the emotional pressure that they were experiencing.

The driver also said that they meant to report the incident to their management; however, no additional information was supplied indicating whether or not they had really carried out their intention to do so. In order to maintain the confidentiality of the individual, the Lakeville Police Department made the decision to withhold the driver’s name from the general public.

The decision to not pursue any criminal charges against the delivery driver was made by the Lakeville police department, notwithstanding the extraordinary circumstances described above.

They have been concentrating on making certain that the products were returned to Amazon in a secure manner and that the issue was resolved without any additional issues cropping up.

It is important to remember that this tragedy serves as a reminder of the enormous demands that some people feel in their employment, particularly during the hectic holiday season.

The incident was addressed with understanding and efficiency, which allowed the story to end on a more positive note. Although the abandoned packages temporarily marred the holiday cheer for some people, the matter was handled with consideration and quickness.

“I am proud of the way our Lakeville Police officers handled and investigated this matter. At this time, we are not seeking criminal charges and are considering this a human resources matter for Amazon,” Chief Matthew Perkins stated.
