Authorities in the Wisconsin community of Two Rivers report that a deer hunter on Saturday came some skeletal remains on private property. However, they would not confirm whether this discovery is connected to the ongoing search for missing kid Elijah Vue.

Sheriff Dan Hartwig of Manitowoc County issued a statement recognizing the circumstances surrounding the finding, but adding, “This is an ongoing investigation, and we are unable to provide specific information regarding the race, sex, or age of the remains. Determining the identity will be a lengthy process.”

Jesse Vang, 39, was purportedly the caregiver of Elijah, who vanished in February at the age of 3.

According to The Herald Times Reporter, Vang, the mother of the child’s lover, reportedly informed police that he last saw Elijah on February 20 at 8 a.m. and that he told him to pray as a form of discipline. He stated that the three-year-old had vanished when he awoke from his alleged sleep of nearly three hours.

Katrina Baur, 31, Elijah’s mother, is accused of placing him under Vang’s supervision for discipline and lying to investigators about her whereabouts throughout the search.

“She intentionally sent that child for disciplinary reasons for more than a week to the residence,” Manitowoc District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre stated. “She was aware of the tactics used and the lack of care provided. This was an intentional thing by her. And, on at least two occasions, during the interviews she has provided false information on her whereabouts during the past week.”

Authorities have officially come to no decision regarding Elijah’s location, but she and Vang are now facing charges of felony child neglect. Aug. 25 is when he would have turned 4.

“Elijah is described as having Hmong and white ethnicity with dark blonde hair and brown eyes,” they have wrote. “He was last seen wearing gray pants, long sleeve dark shirt and red and green dinosaur shoes. He is possibly carrying a red and white plaid blanket as pictured. If you have any information that would help us locate Elijah please contact us at (920) 686-7200.”
