According to a statement from Mayor Brandon Scott and acting DPW director Khalil Zaied, a member of the Department of Public Works Bureau of Solid Waste passed away on Friday afternoon while they were at work.

When Ronald Silver II and his crew members were in the Barclay area near the end of his shift, he had a “medical situation” that needed to be attended to right away.

Silver was taken to a hospital when emergency medical assistance was summoned, where he subsequently passed away.

Although the cause of his death has not been revealed, the Department of Public Works and the medical staff who attended to Silver are making efforts to ascertain the specifics of what transpired.

“Our hearts are first and foremost with him, his family and loved ones, and his DPW colleagues as we grapple with this loss,” Khalil Zaied stated.
