In 2023, several well-known chain restaurants, like Applebees, Burger King, Boston Market, Buffalo Wild Wings, Denny’s, and IHOP, closed some of their stores, as reported by The Daily Mail.
In Florida, even independently-owned restaurants faced closures. For instance, Ta-boo, which had been around for over 80 years, shut down. Another Florida restaurant also closed due to higher prices, but you can still enjoy its food.
The Black Sheep Restaurant, described by Action News Jax, was a laid-back place offering American-style dishes, including a unique rooftop experience.
Google reviewers gave the eatery 4.3 stars out of 5. Haley, a critic, wrote as follows in part:
“Black Sheep is a must-visit!… We had radicchio salad then steak and potatoes. Everything was perfectly cooked and delightful to eat. Finished off the meal with Black Forest cake a perfect balance of dark chocolate and cherry… Overall an experience I can’t recommend enough, the ambiance is intimate, decor clean, and modern with incredibly friendly staff.”

What occurred? In May 2023, the company shared on social media that it was shutting down and expressed gratitude for community support.
According to The Orlando Business Journal, the owner, Jon Insetta, mentioned that labor and supply costs had increased by around 30%.
Other choices: If you liked The Black Sheep’s food, you can still dine at the chain’s two other places—Orsay in Avondale and Bellwether in downtown Jacksonville. Both locations are still open for business.
